DUKE FULL FACE MASK
Description:
DUKE is not the first Cressi full face mask for snorkeling, already in the 50's Cressi marketed its MEDUSA mask with double breathing tube, which integrated in a single space eyes, nose and mouth.
The Duke project required in-depth studies of design and air circulation at both the inlet and outlet in order to solve the problems common to these masks in competitive models and to make the Cressi face mask especially safe in any situation.
The location of the side breathing tube and the fact that it does not require the closing or opening of valves for its operation, ensures a large supply flow, unthinkable in other similar models, especially in case of fatigue or stress. The evacuation of stale air also takes place through a second duct integrated in the tube, with a powerful "chimney" effect that prevents the accumulation of a percentage of this air in the breathing zone. The air circulation in Duke is clearly superior to that of any other similar mask on the market. We had the opportunity to test it in the laboratory of the engineering department of the Milan Polytechnic, where the results exceeded our expectations.
The breathing system we have designed and patented, because it does not use the old system of breathing through a central tube system, does not require the need for forced breathing to travel a longer distance and open more than one valve. The double tube section means that one is connected to the breathing chamber and the other to the viewing chamber. This advantage is reinforced by the fact that neither the breathing chamber nor the tube has valves to prevent the user from breathing.
This design, coupled with the deflector that directs a small inlet air stream into the vision zone, ensures the absence of exhaled air in the vision chamber, reducing the tendency to fog dramatically while maximizing the extraction of hot air produced by the face when the mask is worn, and is designed to function as a chimney effect that forces air circulation away from the lens.
The design of the viewing area allows 30% more angle than most similar masks without distortion.
The tube has a buoyant dry top valve system that prevents water ingress due to waves or complete insertion of the head underwater.
DUKE's watertightness is guaranteed by three large safety valves, which only act in case of water ingress in the vision zone (2) and in the breathing zone (1).
The transparent or black silicone facepiece, depending on the version, has been designed, following the Cressi tradition, for a fantastic adaptation to all types of physiognomies with only two sizes: S/M and M/L.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Mask for bottom observation from the surface. It is not possible to compensate the ears by means of the Valsalva maneuver (nose pinch) or the tackle by exhaling through the nose, so it should not be used in dives below 1.5 m depth.
