Maldives with children? A family trip

MALDIVES. A name that immediately transports us to one of the diving paradises. There are few divers who don't know the place, even if they haven't been there yet, but .... Going with children?

‘This is a normal dive trip and the children will be looked after by specific staff and with numerous activities.’ - Judith tells us.

The Maldives is one of the best places in the world to dive. The fact that your children can go with you and enjoy some of what the place has to offer is incredible.

The Maldives never disappoints, devil rays, sharks, whale sharks, thousands of fish and channels with currents and sharks. Flat sea, water at 29 degrees (no current except where there should be), visibility never less than 15 metres and sun, lots of sun and heat.

While the adults dive, the children who can't make it due to lack of certification, do various activities: paint their own T-shirts, treasure hunt on the island of the ‘6 finger pirate’, create paradisiacal frames for their parents' photos, study the local animals, snorkel, make biscuits, watch movies while eating popcorn, relax in the Jacuzzi.

The most exciting moment is the night snorkel with devil rays and sharks. As soon as we anchor and turn on the stern lights, the water starts to fill with thousands of small fish and lots of plankton. A few minutes later the bigger fish arrived: marlin, barracuda, squid. A little later the first manta. It comes up to the surface making vertical circles to eat.

The week is short and the children never want to leave. That the whole family can enjoy the same activity (and in the Maldives) is beyond words.

If your children are over 10 years old and want to take the qualification they can do all the theory and pool in Casco Antiguo, Jorge Juan 118 (Madrid) and finish in the Maldives or in any other Padi centre in the world.
